Social housing and healthcare among top topics at Provada
ESG and impact investing were prevalent topics being discussed at Dutch real estate show Provada 2023, staged in Amsterdam last week, with concerns ranging from decarbonisation to providing accommodation for senior living and healthcare.
Investors are looking for collaboration opportunities, said Ron van Bloois, managing editor, Real Asset Impact, in conversation with Real Asset Insights Richard Betts.
“You see much more in-depth collaboration between social housing and municipalities and from a technological point of view, we see a lot of innovation.”
A Senior Housing and Healthcare Association breakfast session looked at creating well short-term facilities for older adults and was a forerunner of the association’s upcoming Summit to be held in Brussels later this month which will look in detail at creating sustainable communities.
Van Bloois said that part of the challenge of providing adequate volumes of housing is creating willingness to move among seniors. “It’s about creating sustainable cities where we try to get movement and also create a mix between rental products and ownership of housing for elderly people.”
“It also takes a different approach to infrastructure because it’s also about mobility,” he said.
