LBP AM appoints Stéphane Villemain deputy head of socially responsible investment

LBP AM has appointed Stéphane Villemain Deputy Head of Socially Responsible Investment Solutions. His proven track record with major international investors strengthens LBP AM’s sustainable investment capabilities and capacity to develop innovative solutions spanning all asset classes, designed to support major ESG transitions.
Working alongside Héléna Charrier, Head of SRI Solutions, Villemain will help drive the Group’s strategic sustainability initiatives. He will work across the business to develop tailored solutions for clients, strengthen the Group’s sustainable-investment product offering and further embed ESG practices across asset classes. He will also oversee ESG activities for LBP AM European Private Markets, the Group’s private-markets platform, as well as the ESG quantitative analysis team.
He brings 18 years of experience in sustainable investment and consulting, gained primarily in Canada. Since 2024, Villemain has been Head of Sustainable Investment for public and private markets at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, where he has led the implementation of climate strategies and the integration of ESG considerations across investment mandates. From 2020 to 2024, Stéphane headed Sustainable Investment at Ivanhoé Cambridge, CDPQ’s global real estate investment platform, where he defined the ESG and climate strategy for its investment portfolio. Prior to that, from 2016 to 2020, he was Director of Sustainable Investment for private assets at PSP Investments, one of Canada’s leading pension funds.
From 2024 to 2026, he also served on the Board of Directors of Gecina, one of the leading European Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). Stéphane is a graduate of École Polytechnique and AgroParisTech, and holds a master’s degree from McGill University.
“His exceptional track record with leading international institutional investors, deep understanding of both private and public markets, and expertise in ESG and climate issues will be major assets in meeting our clients’ responsible-investment expectations and in strengthening our SRI offering,” said Charrier.
