Hines steps up ESG stakes with two senior appointments
Underscoring its commitment to ESG and decarbonisation of the built environment Hines has made two senior international appointments.
Hines has created a new role of vice president carbon strategy and appointed former vice president construction in the firm’s US east region Michael Izzo to the new position.
Izzo will lead Hines in assessing its global carbon emissions and develop the strategy to set and achieve science-based targets.
“Based on his deep technical expertise and successful implementation of decarbonisation strategies with some of our new projects, we are thrilled that Mike has agreed to lead the carbon strategy for our firm as we embark on creating carbon standards for the built environment,” said global head of ESG at Hines Peter Epping.
In his previous role Izzo worked closely with the Hines New York team to evaluate climate risk and carbon emission reduction opportunities on the Hudson Square building portfolio.
Hines has also appointed Daniel Chang as head of ESG for Europe.
Chang, who was previously managing director, portfolio management, will be located in London but will work across Europe and as part of the firm’s global ESG team, led by Epping.
Over the last few years Chang has played an instrumental role in spearheading the Hines European Core Fund’s (HECF) successful drive to become a sustainability leader.
