British Property Federation appoints new sustainability chair
The British Property Federation (BPF) has appointed Sophie Goddard as the new chair of the BPF Sustainability Committee. She takes over from Blackrock’s Katherine Sherwin.
As a former director of sustainability at Canary Wharf Group, Goddard brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in driving environmental progress and sustainability in the built environment to the committee.
She previously led sustainability across the UK for the regional and specialist businesses within Balfour Beatty, the UK’s largest contractor.
As chair of the BPF Sustainability Committee, Goddard will help to lead and coordinate the BPF’s sustainability strategy, which includes work on energy security, energy efficiency, decarbonising buildings and ensuring buildings are resilient to the impact of climate change, and protecting and restoring nature.
“Our sector has a critical role to play in tackling climate change and helping the new government meet its net-zero ambitions,” said Goddard.
“The challenges we face in decarbonising and adapting our buildings cannot be understated,” she added. “However, I know there is huge progress being made right across the industry and I look forward to working closely with the BPF to accelerate progress and ensure that the sector’s voice on sustainability is heard and respected.”
