Brazil-focused investment fund manager VBI Real Estate is to invest a forecast R$ 800 million (€131.7 million) over the next seven years in the development of a 5,000-bed portfolio of student housing on behalf of Brazil’s listed Anima Education.
Anima Educação is the fourth largest private educational organisation in the country in terms of student numbers and third largest in terms of net revenue.
330,000-student ‘learning community’
The company has a ‘learning community’ of about 350,000 people, including more than 330,000 students and 18,000 educators, in 18 higher education institutions.
The deal between Anima and VBI also includes the participation of student housing operator Uliving, a company associated with VBI, which was founded in 2012 and has five operational assets so far.
Bonard, the global advisory firm specialised in rented residential asset classes, was the exclusive advisor to Anima Education on the deal.
