‘Property passport’ will assist investors doing deals in France
Law firm Taylor Wessing has launched its Property Passport France, a publication designed to help new participants avoid potential pitfalls in the country’s investment market.
“We know already from the recent past that for new investors the entire acquisition process is something which is mind-boggling because it’s somehow different from the UK from Germany, from the US, or from Asia,” partner Dr Alfred Fink explained.
He said the passport is “something to give people a first introduction to how to do business in France”.
Secondly, it is intended to help new investors avoid mistakes when entering the market. He said these are “very often only cultural mistakes, people are not reacting to the same keywords as in other jurisdictions.”
The passport will provide a basic understanding of the process and what to expect from the other party in a transaction, Fink said.
