No single solution so office transition creates opportunity

There is no single solution when office users are striking a balance between office-based working and working from home, according to Robert Thornburgh, chief executive officer of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.

“For me, one of the beauties of the transition with working from home is each company is finding a unique way to solve it,” he told Real Asset Insight. “I don’t think it’s a one- size-fits-all, it starts with the business and what they actually need for their people.”

SIOR consists of 3,900 members in 45 countries and Thornburgh said that the most important thing for the society’s members is client need and expectation and staying ahead of the rapid pace of change. And he added that this is what creates opportunity.

“I’ve always been optimistic about office. We’re going through a period of transition,” he said. “But people love staying connected in an office environment. It’s where deals are made and obviously information is shared. I just don’t see that going away.”
