More diversified living facilities key to seniors’ independence

There is an increased need for diversified facilities for senior living according to Sabine Geuss, senior fund manager, health care, Principal Real Estate Europe.

There is an increasing preference for assisted living facilities. “’Independence’ is one of the bigger themes for seniors,” Geuss explained.

She said that more seniors “want to be independent and live alone, but in a secure situation with medical care near at hand when they need it.”

But she added that there is still strong demand for care home facilities to cater for people whose medical needs have advanced and, in particular, if and when dementia sets in.
