Logistics sector recession resistant: Alistair Calvert
With bricks-and-mortar retail losing out to ecommerce and question marks hanging over the office sector, logistics property has come out on top during the current crisis.
And, as Clarion Partners Europe CEO Alistair Calvert explained to Real Asset Media’s Richard Betts, the influences that have put the sector in that position are stronger than that of GDP.
While the sector will be affected by an economic downturn, the continued demand for logistics space among occupiers and investors will outweigh the affect of a decline in GDP, leaving it in a position of relative strength in a period of economic contraction.
