Investment to continue apace in 2022 says NREP’s Beasley
While the measures taken to mitigate the effects of the health crisis have sometimes made due diligence on asset acquisition a challenging prospect, particularly at a distance, the need to conduct fundraising via Zoom and Teams has also been made harder unless managers had relationships in place.
“For managers with established relationships, 2021 was a very successful fundraising year and they’ve really had success with their strategies,” said Felicity Beasley, director of investor relations, NREP.
Beasley added that success has also been attributable to managers having strategies in place that are of interest to institutional investors. Residential and logistics are two notable themes, she said while talking to Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts.
“We’re starting to see some sectors such as care homes coming in, continued interest in alternatives such as data centres. And hospitality is also starting to come back in a selective way.”
In 2022, she said, there are still investors with allocations that they did not deploy in 2021.
“2022 could be even stronger and they will look to continue their investment programmes with more gusto. I think we will continue to see that pace.”
