Clariane’s social focus extends to clients, staff and investors
The “social” aspect of ESG is of key importance for healthcare operators and real estate companies such as Clariane, according to the company’s group chief real estate and development officer Frédéric Durousseau. He explained that as a service provider Clariane is dedicated both to the residents that use the service and the company’s staff.
“Most important are our employees who deliver the service to the people who need them,” Durousseau said.
The Europe-wide labour shortage makes it important to retain and train staff and to keep them happy. There are “huge financial benefits when we can retain and train our people because it’s less interim cost and more long-term relationships with our employees.”
Closer relationships with investors also require satisfying their curiosity about the way the company operates and behaves as an operator.
“We should not only have a supplier relationship where we have to supply information about what we do just for the investor to collect that information.”
The goal is to improve facilities, premises or services to the residents and do that together with the investor, he explained.
