A lot of capital is waiting to be deployed in real estate

Real Estate is seen as a safe haven and is drawing in more institutional investors, Luke Dawson of Colliers International tells Real Asset Media’s Richard Betts in an interview.

According to the new Colliers International survey 2021 will be an active and positive year, thanks in part to the roll-out of the vaccine. There will be major shifts in where the capital is going, says Dawson: residential has become a prime focus for investors in EMEA and data centres are also attracting a lot of attention.

The other shift is to security of income: investors want returns but they are keen to preserve capital, so they are likely to focus on Tier 1 cities like London.
