Investor appetite from US increases for European listed sector

Real Asset Media interviewed Dominique Moerenhout, EPRA CEO at the EPRA Conference in Milan. At a time when real estate is coming under pressure, Moerenhout highlighted three main competitors in today’s market “infrastructure, government bonds, and private credit.” But, according to Moerenhout, there is still an enormous amount of dry powder ready to be deployed in the industry; “Investors are becoming a little bit more selective, but the dry powder is there to be to be deployed.” EPRA is seeing an increasing appetite from US investors and this matched by a higher number of US investors attending this year’s conference. Moerenhout sees the US market growing over the last few years but that Europe still has the opportunity to grow and make the sector much bigger. Europe needs to grow the listed sector and Moerenhout sees positive news ahead in terms of potential IPOs coming to the market before the end of the year. “Europe today has everything in its hands to make it become much bigger and this is also one of the key objectives we have as the trade body for the listed real estate sector is to make our sector in Europe much more relevant in a global context.”
