ECE’s Work & Live unit takes on Danish office-to-hotel switch
Hamburg-headquartered ECE Work & Live is switching the planned redevelopment of the former Copenhagen headquarters of alternative investment manager TPG Angelo Gordon from office to hotel use in a €65 million development project.
The property is located on the Danish capital’s main shopping street, Gammel Kongevej, in the Frederiksberg district west of the city centre, an area which ECE pointed out is characterised by high-quality residential areas, exclusive retail and “lots of greenery”.
ECE has acquired the property and will convert the building into a hotel and expand the space. The hotel will have around 210 rooms and a gross floor area of around 7,600 sq m. The hotel operator has not yet been determined but negotiations are well advanced.
Plans are being resubmitted to the Frederiksberg local authority for the change to hotel development and the upgrade of surrounding public space. Once planning requirements are met, construction is likely to begin in the second half of 2025. The hotel is scheduled for completion by the beginning of 2027.
“With this planned hotel project in Copenhagen, we are precisely pursuing our long-term strategy in hotel development , which focuses on attractive locations in dynamic European cities and the increased conversion of existing buildings,” said ECE Work & Live hotel development director Torsten Kuttig.
ECE Work & Live already has a conversion project underway in Rome where a historic building previously used as offices is being switched to hotel use.
