Panattoni plans multi-modal project in eastern Netherlands

Panattoni Netherlands has acquired an 8-hectare-plus site to develop a high-end, multi-tenant, multi modal distribution centre in Almelo in the east of the Netherlands.

The 55,000 sq m Panattoni Park Twente, as it will be known, will be part of XL Businesspark Twente and will have its own waterside container terminal. The building will include 48 loading docks, four overhead doors, 397 parking spaces and a clear eaves height of 12.20 metres. There are also to be solar panels on the roof.

Construction will start in the third quarter of 2022, and will be completed in the third quarter of 2023.

Panattoni Park Twente will have rail access in addition to water and road. There is also a connection to public transport in the immediate vicinity.

“Our vision is to build up a portfolio spread throughout the Netherlands,” Jeroen Gerritsen, managing director Panattoni Netherlands said. “Business Park Twente is a good hub in terms of location for our national- and international tenants.” He said the centre will provide good access to the hinterland in Germany.
