Stanhope JV to develop west London affordable housing
A joint venture of Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo is going ahead with a development of affordable homes opposite Westfield shopping centre in White City, west London and have appointed construction company Kier to build the scheme.
The project will create 142 units for housing association Peabody at Television Centre, London W12 and work will start in March with completion expected in early 2024.
The development will comprise two buildings called Macfarlane Place and will form part of a larger scheme on the site of the former BBC television headquarters complex which will eventually provide a total of 950 homes. The new buildings will replace the now demolished former BBC multi-storey car park.
The project will provide a mix of one-, two- and 3-bed apartments which Peabody will manage when completed.
The JV is working closely with Transport for London, which owns the adjacent arches below the elevated Hammersmith & City line, to help improve the wider area for the local community.
