Massive industrial project planned in UK Midlands
London-listed regeneration specialist Harworth Group has acquired a 107-acre (43-hectare) site in Northamptonshire, in the UK Midlands region and is planning to build 1.5 million sq ft (139,354 sq m) of industrial and logistics space.
The site at Rothwell lies within the Midlands industrial location known as the ‘Golden Triangle’ and is in close proximity to the motorway network.
Harworth said it will work with local stakeholders, including the newly-formed North Northamptonshire unitary authority. Local Plans for the area have already identified a strong demand for employment space, particularly industrial units. Harworth expects to submit an outline planning application in 2023.
Andrew Blackshaw, Chief Operating Officer at Harworth, commented: “In September, Harworth announced plans to develop over three million sq ft of industrial & logistics units over the next five years, as part of its ambitious strategy to double the size of its business. Harworth is a highly experienced developer with a pipeline of over 26 million sq ft. of industrial & logistics space, and our Rothwell acquisition enhances this further and demonstrates our ability to deliver our strategy.”
David Cockroft, Regional Director for the Midlands at Harworth said the acquisition “provides a timely opportunity to engage with local stakeholders as the North Northamptonshire Strategic Plan emerges.”
