Property investment manager Barings has forward bought a 128,000 sq m portfolio of Swedish logistics assets being developed by Skanska.

Barings is paying €211 million for the six assets which are due for completion in 2022 and 2023.

Two of the facilities, accounting for €111 million of the total, are under construction in Helsingborg. The remaining four assets will be developed in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.

The buildings will include sustainability features such as solar panels and green concrete and will meet the requirements for a “GreenBuilding” certification.

“To have sourced and executed this off-market transaction is a strong endorsement of the depth of our platform in the Nordics, particularly at a time when the logistics market in this region has been experiencing a sustained period of significant growth, driven by the globalisation of e-commerce and increasing urbanisation,” Barings’ head of Europe real estate portfolio management Nick Pink said. “Sweden has in particular been characterised by its low supply of Grade A logistics space.”
