Following the launch of amazon.pl earlier this year, the online retailer is further increasing its presence in Poland with the expansion of its customer services operation in Gdańsk.
The firm said it will create an additional 650 jobs at the customer service centre which is located in the Olivia Business Centre in Gdańsk, northern Poland.
The customer service centre has operated since the beginning of March, when the Polish-language online shopping service Amazon.pl was launched. However, the new roles will cater for German, French and Italian-speaking clients in addition to Polish-speakers.
Although Amazon.pl only launched in March this year, Amazon has operated in Poland since 2014 and has since created over 18,000 jobs.
The company currently occupies nine logistics centres across the country and has an office in Warsaw, where Amazon Web Services is located. The Amazon Technology Development Centre is also located in Gdańsk’s Olivia Business Centre, from where it provides technological solutions for Amazon globally, including the Alexa virtual assistant.
A tenth logistics centre is currently under construction in Świebodzin and will open in later this year.
Amazon is the largest American employer in Poland and is also the third largest American investor in the country.
