Niam acquires portfolio of Danish PRS housing schemes

Stockholm-headquartered property company Niam has acquired a portfolio of 782 turn-key residential units under development in five growth cities in the Jutland region of northern Denmark.

The portfolio includes 10 properties comprising 646 terraced houses and 136 apartments. All are being built by Danish developer Birch Ejendomme, a company that has previously supplied 1,200 units to Niam.

The developments, which are located in Aarhus, Silkeborg, Kolding, Randers and Fredericia, will provide a combined 70,000 sq m, the average size of the units 88 sq m.

“The acquisition of these assets supports our ambition to build a residential portfolio in Denmark with a focus on high quality buildings, let at sustainable rent levels,” said Niam’s country manager Denmark Michael Berthelsen. “Additionally, it is an important factor for Niam as a social developer that the residentials are environmentally sustainable.”

The units are expected to receive DGNB certification on completion. They will be delivered consecutively with the first expected in September 2021 and the last in October 2023.
