European life science debut in Denmark’s Medicon Valley

Investment manager AEW has made its first acquisition in the European life sciences sector with the acquisition of Sydmarken 5 science campus in the Medicon Valley of Denmark’s Greater Copenhagen area.

The fully let property has been acquired on behalf of AEW’s recently launched open ended fund Eurocore which has €415 million of equity commitments to date.

Sydmarken life science campus comprises 32,755 sq m including specialist laboratories as well as modern offices. The space is let to businesses in the pharma, medical and food production industries. The main occupiers include Zealand Pharma and Ferrosan Medical Devices.

The Medicon Valley bi-national life science cluster spans eastern Denmark and southern Sweden. Sydmarken is located in the Gladsaxe Municipality, 10 km from Denmark’s three major universities.
