Saudi Arabia: partnerships help make progress to Vision 2030
Invest Saudi made its EXPO Real debut earlier this year, showcasing a range of spectacular projects.
“We had to jump on the opportunity to be in this fantastic environment,” Fahad Al-Hashem of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment explained.
“There’s a lot of great stories happening here. I see a lot of activity and good energy from many companies and projects around the world. I think it’s critical for us to also communicate what we’re doing in the Kingdom – the scale of the projects we have is of great magnitude.”
He said that the Invest Saudi is a firm believer in partnerships and attending events such as EXPO helps make connections with industry leaders and to observe trends while showcasing Saudi innovations and demonstrating what is planned in the Kingdom.
Saudi projects on show included the ROSHN and Diriyah mega projects. “We’re really presenting a nice sample size of what we have to deliver in the Kingdom, from cultural to massive housing developments.”
Fahad Al-Hashem said that one of the key objectives of the Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is to bring foreign direct Investments and to get the inflows of foreign capital investment to hit 5.7% of GDP
“Again, when you look at investment and you look at real estate it’s not purely a single quantitative metric which is foreign direct investment. We have, of course, many objectives under the Vision which is to have the top three cities and the most liveable cities in the world.”
The Kingdom is also increasingly participating in sport. “What we’re doing is we’re utilising our real estate projects to really provide the platform for these objectives to be met.”
Some objectives have already been met. “We’re proud to have our women’s participation in the workforce exceed the target six years ahead of time and now we’re raising the ambition.”
“Because the Saudi story is clear, our objectives, our vision are well laid out, it’s published, we are committed to the words we put forth. Day by day we continue to communicate: “This is our vision; this is our road map; and this is our progress so far, and we welcome everybody to be a part of it.”
