Seychelles to convene investors and policymakers as it sharpens diversification agenda

Seychelles is set to bring together investors, policymakers, financial institutions and business leaders in August 2026 to examine how the island nation can accelerate investment, strengthen project bankability and diversify its economy in an increasingly competitive global environment.

Organised by the Seychelles Investment Board (SIB), the Seychelles Investment Forum will take place on 13 August at the Eden Bleu Hotel in Mahé under the theme “Public-Private Dialogue for Investment and Economic Transformation: Catalysing Partnership | Driving Prosperity”. The forum will focus on strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors while exploring new financing models and investment opportunities across key sectors of the economy.

The event comes as Seychelles seeks to broaden its investment base beyond its traditional economic pillars by expanding opportunities in renewable energy, financial services, the blue economy and digital industries.

The agenda reflects many of the priorities shaping the country’s investment strategy. Sessions will examine the fundamentals of project bankability, venture capital as an emerging financing source for small island economies, the role of fintech and private capital in economic diversification, and how Seychelles can accelerate progress towards its renewable energy ambitions. A panel on the circular economy will also explore how Small Island Developing States (SIDS) can build greater resilience through sustainable use of marine resources.

The discussions build on a broader national effort to position Seychelles as a more diversified investment destination while maintaining its reputation for political stability, environmental stewardship and high-quality governance.

The forum’s emphasis on project bankability is particularly significant. Like many small island economies, Seychelles faces the challenge of translating investor interest into financeable projects capable of attracting institutional investors and private capital. Discussions around venture capital and innovative financing mechanisms are expected to explore how alternative sources of funding can support entrepreneurship, technology businesses and new growth sectors.

The programme also reflects the growing importance of public-private dialogue in shaping investment policy. By bringing together government, investors, financial institutions and industry representatives, organisers hope the forum will identify practical solutions to improving the investment climate and accelerating implementation of strategic projects.

As global competition for investment intensifies, Seychelles is increasingly positioning itself not simply as a tourism destination but as an innovation-driven island economy focused on sustainability, resilience and quality investment.

The Seychelles Investment Forum aims to reinforce that message while providing a platform for discussion on how partnerships between government and the private sector can help drive the country’s next phase of economic transformation.
