Cambodia tops watchlist of standout FDI locations
Cambodia is the country with the greatest momentum to attract FDI in 2024, according to a watchlist produced by the Financial Times’ fDi Intelligence publication.
The FDI Standouts Watchlist assesses the macroeconomic and FDI trajectories of the world’s top 50 FDI destinations using data from the International Monetary Fund and fDi Intelligence’s
in-house greenfield FDI tracker.
With forecasted growth of 6.1% in 2024, the IMF expects Cambodia to be the fastest-growing economy in south-east Asia this year. Meanwhile, the country is experiencing a strong FDI recovery with greenfield investment hitting $2 billion in the first nine months of 2023, according to fDi Intelligence data.
Philippines (ranked number 2), Kenya (3), Iraq (4) and Namibia (5) followed Cambodia on the list, with Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Serbia and India completing the top 10. With six countries out of the 10, Asia fares best on the Standouts Watchlist as a region.
