Restricted scope for travel benefits domestic investors
Europa partner Andy Watson says that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the investment market bringing domestic investment to the fore in many European countries.
Talking to Real Asset Media’s Richard Betts, he said travel and other restrictions have made it difficult for overseas investors to inspect potential assets leaving the way open for locally based investors to acquire stock.
To that can be added the shift in emphasis from retail and hospitality to “beds and sheds” – residential in all its permutations and logistics – which everyone now wants.
Nevertheless, Watson said that he expects there will be a bounceback for retail and hospitality within two to three years.
