There are huge opportunities to invest capital and target UK growth during the next 10 or 15 years according to Montague Real Estate founder Thomas Balashev.
Montague Real Estate has just launched a fund specifically to target Middle Eastern, Asian and European capital to invest in the UK where Balashev says that there will be considerable growth as the country learns to stand on its own two feet, having left the EU.
The industrial sector will be particularly strong and Balashev told Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts that the co-living sector also offers strong opportunities. “The UK has to demonstrate a way to innovate, we have to move away from traditional values and think of how we can innovate in the way that we develop,” Balashev said.
He added that that co-living outside major cities will be an interesting way for developers to “harness what’s gone on over this last 18 months and and produce some real positive value”.
And while he said that it is incorrect to think that the office is a thing of the past, retail is a different story and will provide wide opportunities for repurposing high street real estate.
