More timber buildings would help keep carbon captive

Increasing the use of wood in construction is one of the contributions that the construction industry could make to improving mankind’s chances of survival.

“Everybody understands that we really have to change something…we are in a rush we have to change the way we build, we have to change the way we live,” said Jurrian Knijtijzer, CEO & Founder, Finch Buildings during the recent Provada real estate event in the Netherlands.

“I think building in timber, for example, is one of the things we could do. The building industry is emitting a lot of CO2.” A switch in behaviour could capture carbon by creating CO2 sinks he said.
