Investors are heading for Portugal during 2021: Savills

After a strong 2020 in Portugal’s real estate capital investment market, despite Covid-19, Savills’ head of country Paulo Silva says he expects significant level of activity in 2021.

Speaking during the Lisbon REinvestment Talks, an online event on RealX.Global organised by Iberian Property and Real Asset Media, he said that investors can look at Portugal with some confidence and have some strong comparables to assist in their search for stock.

The profile of investors has changed though and while opportunistic investors had been quiet because they could not satisfy their expectations of high returns Silva expects their return to the market. Those with value-add strategies are a strong presence in the market but core less so. That is not a reflection on the market, merely the lack of new product, Silva said.
