Fund raising changes ‘fundamentally’ after crisis

The process of fund raising has changed ‘fundamentally’ as a result of the covid pandemic and the changes are not all bad, suggests Patricia Bandeira Vieira, principal in the client and partner group at global investment company KKR.

Talking to Real Asset Media’s Richard Betts, Bandeira Vieira explained that the events of 2020 slowed the investment process and left many investors under allocated so they are now looking to deploy capital efficiently in 2021.

The health crisis accelerated various trends, among them investors’ preference for “beds and sheds” investments and their aversion to retail assets. But it also hastened the uptake of technology such as Zoom and Teams which has enabled meetings to take place virtually.

“My belief is that fund raising has changed fundamentally. Technology has enabled us to be a lot more connected than ever before while reducing our financial, our environmental and our social impact,” Bandeira Vieira said.
