France’s real estate sector is taking sustainability to heart

Sustainability has become the current topic in France now that it is generally realised that the built environment accounts for the most CO2 emissions, according to Taylor Wessing partner Amandine Joulié.

Talking to Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts she said that all of the sector’s actors are calling for changes – in respect of decarbonisation for example – both from the government and public sector side but also the corporate side.

Joulié added that France has introduced many reforms such as those relating to solar panels and to electric vehicles. These are among the topics about which law firm Taylor Wessing is advising clients, she said.

“Companies are calling for changes because that’s part of the value of the building, it’s about the rent they will pay but also the investment they make,” Joulié added.
