Fragmented healthcare a ‘tremendous opportunity’

While urbanisation is the mega trend that supports investment in student accommodation and multifamily private rented sector property, it is simply demographics that vindicates investment in senior housing, carehomes and the life sciences segment.

But, as Justin Curlow, global head of research and strategy at Axa IM Alts explained, the senior housing and healthcare sector is highly fragmented in Europe, “because of the specificities of local governments and the nuances in the way that those healthcare systems are organised.”

Nevertheless, he told Real Asset Media’s Richard Betts, it is a tremendous opportunity owing to the need of private capital to provide infrastructure given the likely future demand resulting from our aging populations.
