Experts and occupiers are keys to ESG achievement: de Jong

Improving a company’s ESG status requires a straightforward plan, clear goals which are measurable and collaboration with experts.

So says Anne de Jong, CEO of Dutch investor Merin, which focuses on office buildings in the Netherlands, particularly in the Amsterdam area.

“We work together with people like CFP, Spectral and also Parkbee,” de Jong sold Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts. He said that such technical experts improve the ESG level of Merin. “Working together is key, you cannot do it alone.”

And he said that it is essential to work closely with tenants.

“You have to work together with your occupiers. You can make a building sustainable but if the user doesn’t use it in the right way and if it’s not operated in the right way, then it’s useless.”
