ESG and safety are key criteria for investors and tenants

Environmental, social and the corporate governance is rapidly reshaping the portfolios of different companies.

“Investors are asking, ‘what is the carbon footprint of this building that you’re selling?’,” said Adrian Karczewicz head of divestments CEE, Skanska.

However, he pointed out that since the pandemic concerns have been more about safety. Touchless amenities, sanitisation, air-conditioning systems are now tenants’ primary concern when they are making decisions about their next move.

While small and middle sized companies are currently more hesitant about making such decisions, big companies are still expanding their businesses.

“Regardless of the situation that we have right now, they are signing big leases,” he told Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts.
