Energy infrastructure assets face challenging transition

Increased levels of environmental and climate protection are creating considerable obstacles that the energy sector has to confront nowadays, said Sophia Truong, energy law, PwC Legal, Germany.

Talking to Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts, she said firms in the sector have a short time to transform their businesses and there is a three-way focus on economic efficiency, security of supply as well as environmental protection.

But rapid technological change is bringing with it new opportunities, among them, the use of  hydrogen as a fuel source

“In the north we get the wind, we’ve got the sun in the south so we need to also invent technologies for storage and transportation and we need the grid of course.”
