COP26: Collaboration key in carbon roadmap for buildings

While the jury may be out on the global outcomes of the COP26 climate change conference of the last two weeks, yesterday (Thursday 11 November) was Cities, Regions and Built Environment Day at the event which put the built environment “front and centre” in the fight against climate change according to Julie Hirigoyen, CEO of the UK Green Building Council.

A new whole-life carbon road map for the built environment was launched on the day which Hirigoyen said offers a major solution to the climate crisis.

“It is an opportunity to take carbon out of every stage in the building and infrastructure life cycle,” she said adding that all players in the sector can get behind it, including investors, contractors and designers.

“The crucial bit is collaboration between the different parts of the supply chain,” she told Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts in Glasgow.
