Aareal Bank appoints Jochen Klösges as new CEO

Wiesbaden-based Aareal Bank has appointed Jochen Klösges as its new chief executive officer. Formerly a management board member of Commerzbank and Eurohypo, he will assume office on 15 September.

Jochen Klösges succeeds Hermann Merkens who resigned for medical reasons in April. Management board members Marc Hess and Thomas Ortmanns will continue to perform the CEO’s role until Klösges assumes office.

Klösges is currently CEO of ER Capital Holding and has been responsible for a broad range of business activities in property, renewable energies, asset management, private equity and shipping. From 2009 until 2013 he was a member of the management board of Commerzbank, prior to which, he was with Eurohypo for five years, joining the management board there in 2004.
